http://battlefieldrv.com/details.asp?ID=131 - sprinter293ExplorerMy motorhome is a 2007 that I bought new in April of 2010. It had been delivered to the lot in the summer of 2006. The manager showed me the invoice on it and I bought it for $30k under invoice. Which was about what used coaches from that year were going for. I did have the full warranty.
If you are thinking about buying one of these coaches; don't look at it as a new coach, but as a used one. Drive it off the lot and the market doesn't care that you just bought it, the market says it is a used RV "1,2,3, whatever..." years old. If dealer is still trying to price it as if new, I would walk.
I would not recommend one that has sat longer than a year, mine has had more than its fair share of problems. I am looking for a new one. - tatestExplorer IIThey eventually get sold. If the dealer handles the problem poorly enough to go broke, they get sold real cheap by his lender. There are also companies who buy them wholesale at distress and sell them a profit.

Local dealer here had a NEW 2006 Patriot Thunder until early 2012, when it finally sold. It was a gorgeous coach and I never could quite understand why it failed to move sooner. By the time someone bought it, it was about ready for tires! And yes, it sold with the new mfg warranties still intact.
It had NO warranty from the old Monaco on Monaco items as Monaco went belly up. The appliances and drive train should have had the warranty. Doug- docjExplorer

It may have carried warranties on the engine, transmission, appliances, etc, but that Thunder was built when Monaco owned Beaver and Monaco went bankrupt in the ~2009 timeframe and I don't believe any coach warranties were honored by the "Navistar" Monaco which is now owned by Fleetwood's parent company. - paulcardozaExplorerLocal dealer here had a NEW 2006 Patriot Thunder until early 2012, when it finally sold. - EffyExplorer III looked hard at a 3 yr old brand new unit on a lot at a local dealer a few years ago. I walked away. The thought of it sitting without the gen being run, engine excercised etc made me wary. The capper was they wouldn't budge much on price. $5k more and I could get the same unit brand new. Didn't make sense to me. That dealer has since gone out of business.

My understanding is that manufacturers allot each dealer a certain number of new units, and that they subtract one from the allotment for each unsold unit left over from the previous model year. This (if true) motivates the dealer to get rid of unsold units before the new models come out. We got a fantastic deal on a unit that was brand new, but just about to turn two years old.
Your understanding is wrong:) OEM's will sell as MANY RV's to a dealer as the dealer wants and the OEM can supply. The OEM is as money hungry as the dealer. Now, some OEM's do have a program for THEIR salespeople to the dealer---IF the dealer is NOT moving the units, then that OEM Salesperson is NOT making more money. So, he has an incentive to make sure his dealer has the right units and knows how to move them. Some OEM's, the OEM salesperson gets a small commission for every unit he sells to the dealer and does NOT get his full commission until that unit is sold, so he has an incentive to help the dealers move the units. As to what happens after the model year, the dealers have a mark down sale and each month the price goes lower and usually the Salesperson commission goes up as the dealer puts a special commission incentive to move older stock. They do NOT sell to other dealers as the transport cost would eat up any profit and other dealers are NOT going to take on the problem of 1 or 2 year old units. Besides, you would HAVE to sell to another dealer for that Brand /Make to keep the warranty going. Doug
