You are correct to never take the dealer's word! We had an experience with our 5th wheel. After a trip we discovered that one of our axles was bent! We called the local dealer to see what it would take to get it fixed. He quoted us $2,800 and he would not be able to get to it for at least 6 weeks. That would have taken our camper out of commission for a lot of the summer!
We called Lippert to get the parts and they said it would be $60. Thinking that the nice young lady misunderstood what I needed, I explained again. Yes, it was $60! That included shipping! It arrived at our door within 2 days and it took me about 3 hours to put it on! Needless to say, that dealer dropped of our radar when we were looking for a class A!
It is good that you can do repairs yourself. Enjoy your new coach!
