1. Started with a 77 Ford window van. Built two side boxes with a drop down table. DW sewed up foam cushion covers. Camped all over CA with that set-up.
2. Inherited in-laws 14' Cardinal TT. Had an electric recirculating toilet and kitchen. Heat from a propane lite. Ice box. No holding tanks. Really easy tow. Fun intro to RVing.
3. Bought a 79, 19' Terry trailer. Nice trailer but it was HEAVY! First "modern" rig with ref, fresh water toilet (big improvement!) full bath and A/C. It killed my tired 77 Ford, so I bought a new 86, 460 Ford van. Wow what gas guzzler and not much more power.
4. Missed the ease of towing the Cardinal and the better MPG of the 77 Ford so we downsized. Bought a 96 Ford Chateau with FI 350. More power than the 460 and much better mileage. Also got a 15' Wilderness TT. Lite weight and tighter inside but it worked and was an easy set-up. Used a sway bar but didn't need the weight dist. hitch. Put lots of miles on that rig.
5. Kids moved out, just DW and me so we decided we would try a MH. With Ron D's help we discovered the B+ class of rigs. Decided on a 24'Winn Aspect. Loved the idea of pulling up to a camp site, crank out the slide and we're set. No backing up and unhitching the TT etc.
The MH is less tiring to drive and we find ourselves traveling further from home.
We did add a towd, so we're hitching and unhitching but it's pretty simple. Having our little Honda has added to the fun.
First Grandkid has entered the scene and we're looking forward to taking her camping!
