I have made APPOINTMENTS at dealers before and always asked them to schedule it when they could actually do the work. Leaving it sit on their lot for longer than it takes to do the work, if it is still drivable, is unacceptable.
I would definitely ask for an extension of the warranty for the time that it is sitting.
In addition, if it is still usable, I would pick it up and ask them to call me when the parts are in and they can work on it.
