He didn't have to. If the truck moved over and he glanced in his mirrors and could not, he should have been on the brakes instead of going 60... and, if he wasn't following to closely, he could have done just that.
It's about reaction times and speed. From the time you perceive an issue, to the time your brain send the message to your foot to apply the brake and you get your foot on the brake,1 second has passed and if you are following too closely, there is no time to react.
You and I both know what the situation was. He didn't have to say that. You can deduce that from his post.
Been in that situation countless times but I wasn't following the vehicle in front of me so closely that I didn't have time to react and slow down (when I could not move over because of overtaking traffic.
