+1. You don't want to end up scraping away more "chrome".

What ever you use, finish up with a good coat of paste wax. Then the next time you do that it will slide right by.:B

I would rub gently with rubbing compound!

Magic eraser is also likely to scratch any paint or finish if you scrub with it, so light use only. It is not to be used on automotive paint because it will also remove the gloss and possibly scratch the paint -- dependent on the user though.

A fine clay bar, available at any auto parts store, and water.

The Magic Eraser we bought says not to use it on shiny plastic or painted surfaces.
I would try the very fine rubbing compound.
That is what I successfully use on the paint left on the rear bumper (plastic) of my motor home after a pickup camper leaped out and hit me when I was getting into a very tight site.

It depends on how deep the scratch. I use Malm's car 2 step wax. I have used it for 30 years this year. It was made specifically for black cars/paint but can be used on anything. The first step is the fine polishing cleaner then the pure carnauba wax.

I've had amazing results with this product. It can be purchased online if interested. I bought it originally for my new 1984 Peugeot 505 STI (black) and it started to get spiderweb scratches in the paint from regular washing. The two step Malm's wax made it shine like glass. It's not cheap but works miracles.

Be careful,"Rubbing Compound " is very coarse,use Polishing Compound and or Cleaner wax.

Used dryer sheet works well also. Then re-olish. Good Luck
