What tires do you suggest?

Thanks to everyone who took the time to answer. I have decided to go with Toyos. I have had them before so decided to try them again.

Have used Michelin LTX M&S tires on two C classes and my current B class Pleasureway Plateau. Never had a tire problem. If you have OLD tires ie older than 5 years and the tires are exposed to extreme sun, expect cracks and tire failures.That applies to any brand not just Michelin. Tire pressures should be checked regularly.

Replaced our original Hankooks with Michelin LTX MS2 on our 09 PW Excel. One of the original Hankooks separated with only about 6500 miles on it even though I always monitored the tire pressure and it had plenty of tread. They all looked like new but after the separation I did not trust the other three so I replaced them all. I use the same model Michelins on my SUV except they are a different load range of course.

They were rotated per the service intervals Mercedes Benz recommends. The wear was uniformly even and the tires were in good looking condition. There was just no tread left. Continental Vancofourseason tires only carry a 40,000 mile warranty. In effect that's a very cheap tire without a lot of expected tread life.

Everyone has their favorites when it comes to tires. We got excellent use out of the OEMs on our Roadtrek and decided it was time for new tires last fall. I researched extensively and read past posts on the subject on this forum. Finally, I decided to go with what I had before: Bridgestone. The more I read the more I became concerned about sidewall strength and a maxed out 3500 Chevy. We could not be more pleased with our choice and the tires' durability and ride.

We did pay a bit of a premium for the tires compared to some others that probably would have worked fine. Here is something we can all agree on: the only thing between you and disaster is a few square inches of four tires (maybe 6) in contact with the road and at 70 mph and an emergency situation, a few bucks saved may be the worst investment of your lifetime.

Bridgestone still makes the V Steel tire, they are now called R265. For the price a really good tire. Roadtrek's came with these for years on the Chevy's.

We had Michelins on our 1996 Dodge RT Versatile - they developed sidewall cracks within the year and the steering was squishy. There are several suitable tires for our needs - Michelin is not on my list!!!

We just (3 days ago) put on 4 x Goodyear Wrangler SR-A, replacing Bridgestone V-Steel 265 (no longer produced) which were satisfactory. We shall see how the Wranglers perform this summer trip (13,000 miles).

Tirerack, Discount Tire, Sears, Costco, Walmart and other tire selling websites all have detailed information on a variety of tires with spec comparisons, ratings and reviews. Also, their tire selectors narrow down the proper tires for your vehicle. Not all tires mentioned are available for every kind of B. If you live in the South you might prefer a tire different than someone living in the North. If you off-road you might want a more aggressive tire. You kind of have to decide what criteria is most important.

I checked every tire website that sold tires in the Twin Cities and narrowed my choice down that way. I wanted a smooth riding all season tire that would have a lasting tread life. The only cost factor was who sold the desired tire for less.

My understanding is the Michelins have a more flexible sidewall that some have complained getting more side-to-side motion with. The Bridgestones are S-speed rated (versus R for the Michelins) which usually means a stiffer sidewall.

Yes, the Michelins seem a little "squishier" but ride and handle fine. BTW, we had 35,000 miles on the Bridgestones with plenty of tread left. They looked fine - no cracks or checking - but were going into their 8th year so I was afraid they were "ageing out". Didn't want to get far from home and have a problem. Got a good deal and installation from my local repair shop on the Michelins.
