Listen to the people. When you decide to set up a towd:
First, can it be towed 4-down? Confirm this before you go very far.
To tow legally in 48 & CA, you will need:
A tow bar,
A base plate - the specific piece for your vehicle
A tow harness for the towd lights
A brake system (yes, you may be able to do without, but not in all states.)
Then, there is the reduced maneuverability and backing is usually out of the question. Getting underway now has a new complication.
A tow dolly is another choice with much of the complication of the above and now hookup is a very serious PITA.
Consider carrying bicycles or a scooter on a rear rack. OR rent a car if you will be in one place for any time at all.
