Yes, even new ones may get a leak in the cabover section. We found a leak in ours this past spring while preparing for our second year with our 2012 (bought in May 2013 brand new...sat on the lot a year...guess it was meant for us:-)); got it fixed ASAP. Needless to say, we keep an eye on that section!

If you are in the market for a used rig, basically all of them will either leak or have leaked even if only a few years old. Hell even some new ones do. In this case you are lucky enough to know the history.

I say buy it and enjoy. Assume it doesn't currently leak, but pay close attention at all times and look for evidence of leaks with an open mind. If any appear, have them fixed ASAP. Other than that, don't waste your life worrying about RV leaks. Life's too short.

We bought ours reasonably 5 years ago with some delam. Has not gotten
any worse. Have probably gotten our moneys worth with the amount of
fun we've had with it, and aren't done yet. I'm so used to it now, I hardly see the delam anymore. After all, the RV you're looking at
is a 1996.

On my last MH My cab over window started leaking and I had it fixed right away and it never leaked again. There was a little delam under the window. It didn't affect my driving or my RV'ing adventures. IMHO I think too many get too overwroght over delam. I have seen it happen on new RV's where there was no water problems.

Get an estimate for a professional repair for the delam and base your decision with that information in hand.

I would run away from that deal. I know been there done that. We bought one from a family friend Who's husband Died. One of our other friends, helped her convince us to buy it. Paid thru the nose. It earned the loving moniker MFH (Motorhome from Hell). The thing leak worse than a sieve.

You are correct on all those concerns and to address them,all I can say is they are second owners..first were elderly farmers who didn't use it much..the present owners bought it three years ago and new tires and brakes were installed and the unit serviced to take their kids to Disney..since then it was mostly local stuff and now the kids are getting older (and take up more space..lol) and now they want a pool...I just wish I could get past that delam part..I am not going to take it apart to check the integrity..I have seen others sag from the body at that point..guess I better wait for another to love!

HI Janalee. I read your other post and will give you my opinions. You self-reported that both you and your husband are elderly. First, I think that its great you want to continue on with the RV lifestyle. But, importantly for your decision regarding this post, about how many more years (roughly) before you might decide to hang up the keys? (NO NEED TO ANSWER HERE.) I'm trying not to be insensitive with this question, but if I were considering the unit you listed above, my time of use of it would be a factor in my decision to buy or not. The water and delam. will be less of a problem for a relative short term use compared to a longer term use. Second, I understand the RV in question has extremely low miles. This is not always a good thing for a motorhome. It means that it has sat around quite a bit, which isn't good for many of the components. Unless the current owners can give you written evidence of appropriate service, you might need to replace many of the fluids, i.e., brake fluid, tranny fluid, oil & oil filter, and may need to have belts and hoses replaced as well. Further, the tires will need to be replaced if they are over six (or so) years old, or if there are cracks in the side walls no matter how good the tread looks or how many driven miles are on the tires. Being from PA, you already know about the required annual state inspection that it must pass. As experienced RVers, I anticipate that you are able to evaluate the performance of the generator, furnace, AC, and the appliances. So, bottom line, if there is no significant structural damage from the delam. and water leak, if you will only use the RV occasionally, if you do not need to sink a ton of money in it for updating fluids/hoses/tires, and the price is right I'd go for it. Besides, you already told us you "love" it.

They have pictures the PO showed them of that part being repaired. Said it was repaired by a pro..I dont know if that counts..?
