When have I reasonably earned a state sticker?

Just got a US state sticker map. Idea is that the kids can put stickers on the map (mounted on RV) as we travel through other states. My question is; is there a commonly accepted rule of thumb that...

I say; (A) You need to have lived in the state for three years in your RV, (B) Have earned $100K in the state while fulltiming. Which ever comes first. Or (C) You could just have lunch in the state or (D) maybe get fuel in the state. Option (E) Drive through a portion of the state.
