When I bought my MH 12 years ago I felt the same way you did. Between the front end fixes, auto park problems and leaking exhaust manifold problems I spent about $5000 the first year and wondered about the whole thing. Every trip something would fail that needed repairing. I bought this older MH to learn about MH's, to see if this was something I wanted to do for the rest of my driving life and to know what to buy for my next and last MH. The MH is now 21 years old I paid $28k for it when I retired 12 years ago invested another $14k in mods, repairs and maintenance to date. I put over 80k miles on it from Fla to Alaska and still don't know if I spent too much money on it. My only comparison is my friend who got me into Rving has had 3 new MHs during that same period and has lost more in each sale than my mH cost. His last two were a Bounder DP which he had at the dealer more than he used it, had no confidence in it, sold it the following year and lost over $50k when he bought his new Tiffin Phaeton DP. The only difference today is I learned more about the MH and feel I can fix most of the problems with some help from the members on this forum. My friends wife no longer wants to travel because of the grand kids and his MH is just sitting in his driveway. Most of us are not smart enough to buy our "last MH first" so you need to start somewhere to see what you want. I think a $13K MH will give you a good idea if you want to invest $60k or more into your next one. I am in the process of looking for my "last MH" now but not finding what I really want yet. You will have problems which ever way you go.
