One thing that affects quality is demand. As the demand goes up for a model or brand the quality will suffer while the manufacturer tries to catch up to demand. In 2008 Tiffins were in high demand.
The 5th wheel we bought 20 years ago was the first model with multiple slide outs. The manufacturer had to add a third shift to keep up with demand. So on ours there were a lot of little things that were wrong. Like the faucets had not been tightened down to the sinks, trim pieces were missing or loose, lots of staple holes were missing putty...the service manager at the factory told us what possibly happened was the second shift installed the faucets but left them for the third shift to tighten, same with the trim 3rd shift didn't spot the loose or missing trim and putty...and their quality control inspectors were so overwhelmed they missed it as well.
Eventually the manufacturer will catch up and quality improves but the damage to their reputation may have already been done.
