"When will RV Manufacturers be concerned with quality?"
When more RV buyers are prepared to pay for it, not just the cheapest they can get!!
Does it really cost that much more to do it right? How much more?
No! it would not cost more!!!! and if it did it would be less than $1k. I work on the hours I book. I can tell you I turn out quality work. sure I can make a couple hundred more a week, but then there goes the quality. which is why I never have comebacks.
For starters I imagine you earn more than the average assembly lime maker. Paying a better wage would improve quality by getting a more capable competent individual to assemble the RV's. However higher wages will significantly impact prices
Many RV assembly line workers are paid by the piece. Quantity not quality is how they are paid.
Changing the pay scale and/or pay system would cost significantly more.
Some sort of innovation or outside competitive force would be required to make RV manufactures change their ways. Otherwise we will continue to get more of the same.
I don't think quality is as bad as we make it. Too many expect an RV to be maintenance and problem free like a Japanese car. RV's are used in all sorts of ways and require all sorts of maintenance.
While there is certainly need for quality control improvements. There are also a lot of self inflicted problems and a lack of general understanding of the basic systems by us, the end users.
In many cases the RV manufactures can't save us from ourselves!
As long as we are passionate about RV'ing and keep buying the stuff they are rolling out nothing will change.
When the consumers stop buying due to lack of quality. The manufactures maybe become more concerned with quality. Unfortunately most consumers are not knowledgeable or demanding enough to recognize true quality.
We are easily confused and bamboozled by glitz and gadgets and settle for style over substance. We settle for the inconsistent quality that the manufacturer's give us and make the most of it.
