And even now that you have had time to think about it, you still don't see that this kind of question doesn't HAVE a single good answer. It might stimulate a bit of (hopefully good natured) discussion but it can't really be answered.
BECAUSE....the only answer that is important is YOURS.
Stay wherever you please. Pick a campground or resort or Cracker Barrel parking lot that suits YOUR needs and wants. What others do is really meaningless in the end.
KOA supposedly has a minimum set of standards but it's not a resort. I find them to be a good compromise. YOU might find them junky or overpriced however.
