Both of my coaches - my previous and current - came with attached ladders, yet I have ever to use them. I carry along a folding extension ladder (14' Gorilla Ladder) that is nice and study even when fully extended. It does take up some space in the bay though. However, I trust it a lot more than ladder attached to the back cap. I'm just not confident that the attached ladder will safely hold my weight. No problem with my folding carry-along ladder though. I get up on the roof several times per season.
