Where have all the ladders gone?

Went to the Houston RV show last week. Of the 3 DPs we narrowed it down to, only 1 has a ladder. And no, you cannot order one as an option.
Granted, they were enty level but still over $200,000.
How the heck are we to get on the roof if necessary while on the road?

As many times as I'm on my roof, no way would I be without a fixed ladder. I have a nice 13' collapsing ladder that I only use if I need to work on something up high on the side or front of the MH. I would not call it safer than the fixed one.
  • I have a 2001 DP and it has no ladder. But I have a 16' collapsible one that is sturdy and safer that I carry in a bin!
  • Use a safer, easily concealed folding ladder.

I am debating our ladder right now. The aluminum tubing seems more like decoration than safe access to the top, and I worry about it suddenly failing like I have heard the ladders of others have done. It also gets in the way of cover installation, washing, waxing, and is a decent shoulder smacker during maintenance.

I may have my neighbor build a better steel ladder, or I may just remove it, and use a stowed latter.

Were I buying new, I would try to get a coach without a ladder.
