Where to "dump" when not at campgrounds?

We'll be parking our B in a friend's driveway and staying in it for a few weeks. We'll use their water & electric, but where can we go to dump black water in a large city?

  • If you have a smartphone there is an app for that. It is called Allstays RV Dumps. It could be pretty handy as it shows your location on a map and the RV dumps near you. It should cover all the places that have been suggested so far.
  • I use my sewer clean out in my driveway,, Actually I got lucky, I have 2 clean outs, One at the top of the drive and one at the sidewalk, and there is the one in the street! Check the street in front of your house,, probably a small cover out in front that says sewer on it.
  • buy a macerator pump and run a hose into a toilet in the house or cleanout for sewer system.
    bumpy
  • One small town sewage plant I stopped at just told me to back up to their open settling tanks, put the end of the hose over the edge, and let fly. No charge. Worked fine other than not having a fresh water hose to rinse out with. I dunno if management in a larger city might be pickier.

Jim, "Veni, Vedi, Visa... I came, I saw, I did a little shopping."
  • Some RV stores and dealers have dump stations. The 2 I frequent in SE Mass/RI have them. Also, the city next door use to allow campers to dump at the wastwater treatment plant (dump into the "river" feeding the plant...not pretty). Haven't done that since my racing days, so it would be anoher option to ask.
  • Some municipal sewage treatment plants maintain RV dump facilities. You might call and ask whatever such plant serves the City you're visiting.
  • Many State Visitor Centers have free dump stations.

If you friend has an above ground sewer clean-out
    that will work very well.
  • Unless you plan to do this often I would locate a campground and dump. A macerator pump would be a waste of money.
  • Check with the local CGs
Check with local truck fuel stations

Get a portable macerator some 3/4" hoses and dump in your friends sewer clean out
