Where to install Outside temperature sensor?

Mine's on the outside wall by the house door. It's shaded by the awning, so we don't get readings affected by direct sunlight. It's a clip-in mount and I take it inside while we're driving.

I asked the manufacturer if it was rugged enough to be outside on a moving vehicle and they said "No".
