Mine is a fifth-wheel, but there should be no difference in principle. I find that the outside sensor needs to be moved around during the day to keep it on the shady side. (Under the awing on the sunny side is not "in the shade", and neither is under a slide-out on the sunny side. Reflection from the ground makes heat.)
I'm pretty low-tech: I pick up a short twig, break off a couple of inches, insert that into the gap around an outside storage door, and hang the sensor on the twig. I've got several of those stick-on hangers inside, for keys and the like, but just haven't tried one outside.
