where'd toad go?

Funny little thing. Yesterday we came home to Bremerton from Jantzen Beach RV Park in Portland. When I left, I zeroed out the trip odometer on my POS '11 Jeep Liberty because I wanted to see if it was racking up miles because I was told it didn't. When we got home,I entered the mileage on the motorhome at 169 miles and then checked the GPS from the rv park and it was 169 miles. So, here's what was cute, the mileage on the toad, which isn't supposed to register was 174.9 miles. Now I'm trying to figger out where the toad went with out us.
  • I've never heard of something gaining miles while towing.... Especially MORE miles than you traveled. Smaller tires by chance than stock? Please let us know when you find out.

    Toad ignition on or off?
  • Any chance it is recording on the trip odometer, and NOT on the regular odometer?

X2, possibly switching the key one notch too far when unlocking the steering? That would account for the mileage registering, but not the excess mileage. A different tire size might though.
  • The difference in mileage is about 3% or so. If the tires are worn on the toad, a little math shows that tires worn 1/2", in diameter, which means only 1/4" is worn off of the tread, would come close to showing a 3% difference. Just saying that a worn tire rotates more often than a new tire for the same distance.
