Some very good info so far and a few fear mongers with no real facts to back them up.
I would look at the livability of the unit,storage and so on,as you said the Cruise America was spartan,as I found when I was looking for my RV as mentioned in the Rental Thread above.
You may want to look also at the cost you may incur after you buy it,adding an awning at about $800- $1200 depending on the style you want, also the TV,The Cruise America ones I looked at had no TV or any wiring to add one,this may be very costly or impossible to add later.
Another thing to look at is the age of the tires,they are very costly to replace if they are 5 years old or older,use This link to determine that.
The Thor Chateau,from the pictures I have seen is very well appointed inside and has all the things that would make it a more desirable unit in my book.
If they have been well maintained with records the mileage and age is not a problem as I see it.
Bottom line is what will make you happy and you can live with for the money you are spending or will spend to get it the way you want,we all personalize them after we get them.:B
