We've purchased three times out of state, two trailers and one motorhome. All three times the dealer has figured out tax and registration for our state, collected the fees as part of the purchase transaction, then issued a check to our state's DMV and gave it to us along with giving us a temp plate. We then went to the DMV to register and pay the sales tax.
Editing to add that the trailers were new, MH was purchased used...but same thing each time.
