I hope Ford keeps making this engine. It may not be the most economical, but it is a very reliable workhorse motor.
What sort of mileage do you get under what circumstances? I'd prefer to get a diesel but certainly a lot of nice rigs using this engine at a much lower cost. Can buy a lot of gas with the savings. How do they handle hills, etc?
Thanks,
We get 8-9 MPG with our 2001 Triton V10 powered 34' Class A towing a Toyota RAV4 overall. We drop down to about 50 MPH pulling parts of Fancy Gap out of NC into VA on I-77 or from TN into NC on I-40 up Black Mountain, but we always get where we're going. Both of those roads have around 5% grades in places. The newer V10's have a few more horses than we do, so they might pull them a little easier, depending the weight.
Note that most of the spit plugs in the earlier V10's occurred after a plug change when the new plugs were improperly torqued. You can't crank down on them like we could on the old extended thread heads.
