We tow 2008 CRV. No NAV and so far no battery problems. Miles do not accrue while towing. High side costs can be 2-3K depending on labor rate and cost for tow bar, safety cables, base plate, Aux braking system if you use one, light kit, charge line. etc. It will pay to shop around. For many it can be a DIY project but not for me.
For the new base plate, Air Force One supplemental braking system, wiring rear lights and adding a fuse cut-off switch (professional looking switch put behind a blank plate to the left of the steering next to the traction button), was about $3,500 total.
It was worth every dime as I do not have the skill, tools or patience to do a good job.
