I tow a 2006 CR-V. I bought the ReadyBrute Elite towbar with integral braking system, plus the ReadyStop breakaway system, plus wiring setup with diodes to use the normal light system on the car, various other parts/accessories, plus a Roadmaster base plate. All together, it cost me just under $1600 in late 2012. I did all the work myself, so no labor cost involved. Prices have gone up for everything, so I would expect to pay around $1800 for everything now.
You can do the work yourself, I'm sure.
