If we have clear skies next Fri or Sat, I'll load up a few meals, a change of clothes, & my cat. I'll drive an hour and a quarter north into the back country. Then I'll drive 3 miles up a bad private road climbing about 2,000 ft to a mountaintop observatory. I'll probably need 4wd at least once in the climb. After a late evening looking at Mars, Saturn, and various other astronomical stuff, I'll spend the night, drycamped. Then I may get up early to watch the sunrise and eat breakfast.
My point is that I use my little C for a lot of one-night trips that wouldn't be practical with a trailer. When I'm in a CG (rare), I just keep the amount of stuff I put out to a minimum, and put it away when I'm done with it. On a cool day, driving off is a matter of folding a chair, stowing the power cable, and finding the keys. If it's hotter, I may also have to furl the awning.
For most of my uses, a trailer would sit in the backyard, and I'd just sadly take the Subaru.
