I have been driving a car without a spare tire for a little over 3 years, no flats no problem but i am also in a reasonably sized area and my tires are run flats. Would I drive my B without a spare, heck no. We go too far off the beaten path to expect our tire size to necessarily be readily available to our tow service provider. If they come out with run flats for vans I would probably still carry a spare due to the places I like to travel.
