Huh?
What modern gas engine gets a tune up?
And most oil change cycles are about the same or in favor of the gas engine. Burning diesel dirties up the oil much worse (that's the main reason for the large amount used).
The days of diesels lasting far longer than gas are long gone. It's nothing for a properly maintained gas engine to get 250k miles with no significant problems. By that point, the coach is likely 20+ yrs old and everything else is worn out regardless of engine type. Most die long before that due to lack of maintenance and abuse (gas & diesel)
To the original question:
- All else being equal, the maintenance cost difference is minimal.
- All else is rarely equal. Big diesel pushers are usually more complicated and have more expensive toys.
