Get bigger dogs. I have found that nobody hassles me when we walk our Great Pyrenees. :B
Our dog is big enough to stand on her hind legs, put her front paws on someone's shoulders, and be nose to nose with them.
Seriously, ignore people like that. Pretending you just do not hear them is the best way to react towards idiots.
