Spot Lights, Police Cars EMS/Paramedic, and Taxi Cabs often have spotlights..
All for the same reason.. To spot with.
Seriously, The police use them for two reaons, one is to look down alleys and such for evidence of illegal activity but also to better/more easily read street names on the signs and addresses on houses, Same for EMS/paramedic and Taxi.. They need to know where they are/going
For RVers we often are taking the road we have never traveled before, Sometimes (often) in the day but sometimes at night, and often those street name signs are not where our headlights work well.. I wear a TC-1200 flashlight but the spotlight.. Performs that function it can light up the sign so we know "Not this road" or perhaps "this road" even after dark.
Why on older and not so much newer rigs.. GPS of course.
