Look guys you can't compare a 6.5 or 8 cu. ft. unit to a 5 or 6 year old Norcold 1200. Peple who the 1200's know what I'm talking about. Once the cooling unit starts to fail, you're done. I know I had one. When the outside temp starts to get near 90 deg. the temp in the refrigerator would be around 50. Milk and fruits and vegetables would spoil before we could use them. I tried adding fans inside and out and tried fooling with the thermistor. Nothing worked. We have a diesel pusher with a 2000 watt inverter and a 4 battery 6V battery bank basically just sitting there not being used. After messing with the No-cold, it was a no brainer for me. We had a Samsung 197 put in. The Samsung was $1260 on sale and it cost use $1000 to have the Norcold removed and the Samsung put in. The installation was done very professionally and you cannot tell it did not come with the coach. A new Dometic 12 cu. ft. refer would have been $2995 plus installation. The Engery Star sticker on the unit stated $43 a year operation cost at $.10 a KWH. That's 1.2 KW per day or $.12. You can't run a Norcold 1200 on AC or gas for that. Its the best mod we've ever done on our coach. We are full timers and we very seldom boondock.
