I don't believe the water pump is what failed the fan hub on a rear radiator motor is what failed. Removing the radiator may have been involved to get to the hub.
The op is lucky as I've read with many that fail , the fan flys lose hitting the radiator and CAC taking them out also ! Then we can talk some " real" money ! Very lucky ! From what I've read before , from others ( I had a c7) your on your own but hey it never hurts to try.
What I read most did was put a hub with a lube fitting on it. Actually I didn't know cat still replaced them with the non lube models
