Hey douggie boy, cool your jets buddy. I don't live on the net like you do. FYI, Urethane was used .. I have been in touch with the factory and a dealer. Seems though to a point they will suggest and even elude but then it ends. I have spent the last week trying to get a final response from both without success. I'm close to getting permission from them (required) to get the unit out there (2600 kms) and back out of my pocket but I want confirmation they will cover the cost of the repair at the factory. Is that too much to ask ?
Not too much to ask, but, you HAVE waited 10 years to make a BIG issue of it. NO Factory will give you a full positive answer on if it will be covered without seeing it after 10 years. I don't live on the net, but when I see an updated post AFTER mine from the OP and he does not answer the questions posted, it does kind of get you riled, which YOU did. People want help, but they do not supply requested info to help them out. Your problem is NOT a common problem on Newmar motorhomes. ALL the ones we have had over the years have been correctly repaired by either urethane or a new windshield/ new gasket and the urethane. What I would ask Newmar is simple. IF they remove the windshield and they find a metal/fiberglass frame/structure defect or broken loose, will they THEN cover it or give a split on the cost. YOU want full coverage on a 10 year old unit, you should be asking for a 50/50 split on the cost OR pay for the cost of a new Windshield IF it has rock chips and such. The odds are if it is driven back to Indiana from your location, the windshield will have rock type chip damage. Newmar should not be responsible for a replacement 10 year old or even a 2 year old windshield. If it has road damage. HAS the original windshield been replaced in 10 years? Doug
