It will depend, our 2012 has a large rear bay that covers the width of the rig and there is no way that a ladder could be attached. You could add one but on which side do you want it, street or curb and then it is something else to snag something/one with. The rig also DOES NOT have a rear bumper. If you need a lot of storage outside good luck not a lot of that either. But if you dont carry lots of junk there is adequate space but none for fixed frame folding chairs things like that. I carry a small table top BBQ and a small propane tank on the passenger side by the rear tires. I also have my small camping stuff there with it. The left rear is where the inflators are for the air bags, there is also the water drain switch in the very rear. I carry my leveling blocks in this compartment.
Just have to be creative I guess under the bed slide offers no storage area for other than small items.
