I would agree with Doug. We had the same straps on our 2001 Adventurer. We did use them, but every time we took it in for service we had to remove them. The first 2 times we didn't the technician extended the slide without removing the straps. The slide didn't even notice they were there. Both times the screws and retainers in the floor were pulled loose.
In over 100,000 miles we never had a problem with the slide moving out. However if you do develop a minor hydraulic leak the slide can move on one and bind in the opening.
