They definitely wouldn't do anything to improve crashworthiness. I, like others here, have used it once. Forgot to removing it when I extended the slide, noticed it later with the strap still attached to the slide trim, but the floor bracket still on the strap with the 1/2 in screws (2)in the bracket. I could mail you my strap and brackets, but I personally don't think it would be worth the cost of postage.
