Why then does Winnie put MSRP on every single MH on their site? I think there is some verbiage that is causing confusion. We can split hairs all day but Winnie "says" their MSRP is X. They have it on their website. Whether or not it's regulated doesn't matter. That's the starting figure most discount percentages are based upon. X% off MSRP. It's not like this is news. Some folks argue to argue. MSRP is MSRP regulated or not and anyone can see it on the site.
Sure it's inflated. That's the point, so buyers can "feel" like they get a deal. And that "deal" usually lands about 25-30% off what Winnie's price is. The dealer plans on selling at that price anyway you just have to get them there.
With so much information on the net, dealers are pretty close in price. Only takes about an hour of due diligence to figure out what the best price is across the board. Pit several dealers against one another and you'll figure out soon enough what they will part with it for. What percentage that ends up being based on some made up MSRP by the manufacturer doesn't really matter. But the typical range is 25-30%. Call the starting number whatever you want. MSRP or the unicorn and rainbow number - it's still the starting number.
And dealers can't sell for whatever price they want. Otherwise major dealers could squeeze out smaller shops in a month. Winnie has some say in how low a dealer can go on a unit. Corporate suicide if they didn't.
