Provided the water inlet line is below the solenoid that seems to be an acceptable solution. When I replaced my Norcold with a Samsung (Model RF197) I relocated the solenoid to the back of the fridge so I can reach it through the original Norcold access panel. Then when I winterize, I simply disconnect the small hose up to the icemaker so it drains down and then power up the solenoid with a cheater cord until the pink stuff flows.
