ed6713, I did notice a wall heater insert similar to the ones in your link and I do have an L.P. gas tank as well. I wasn't sure if that was part of the furnace or ran independently, but I will check it out tomorrow and see if and how it works. I believe the L.P. tank is 10 gallons as well, but I have no idea if it is full or empty. I'm not entirely acquainted with my RV yet, so I need to take some time to see how the furnace, wall heater insert and everything else works and ties together. One question I have is how long would one of these wall inserts run off of a 10 gallon L.P. gas tank, just a ballpark guess. If it's a harsh winter than I may not be able to get my motorhome out to refill tanks, unless the tanks are easily removable.
darsben, the curtains I currently have up are pretty heavy duty, but are a woven-type material with little holes where cool air could seep in, so I was planning on finding a material that is thick and not so porous.
Ka Ron, good tips on the hot water tank. I will makes sure I drain it. As for my holding tanks, they are not directly exposed to the air underneath, but are located in the storage compartments, accessable on the sides of the RV and all compartments are carpeted. Do you think this will keep them insulated enough to avoid freezing? I'm not sure if there is any insulation in the walls of the compartments or not. What if I found some cheap insulation that I could just shove in the compartments and surround the tanks, would that be sufficient? All my tanks are in these compartments, so do you think skirting my RV is crucial?
