Wiper size - Advice please

Hi, I want to replace the wipers on the Cayman 2003, double windshield.
The wipers that are installed are 24 inch and seems to be a bit small. I wonder if I install a bigger wiper, like 28 inch would end at the bottom of the windshield.

Thanks

  • Stop and think if you went from 24 to 28 that means they are only 2 in longer on each end.

  • I just bought two at Costco, 26 inch, just a bit longer, so this should do it, they where the same price, no mater the size.

    Thanks for your inputs.

I had 22 in blades on it when I bought the MH I replaced them with 24 in and then 26 or 28 in blades. The longer blades work good when raining but if I use them to just clean the windshield they do not return to the original position with the window dry because of more surface drag on the blade. Not a big problem to me but it might bother some.
  • Just measure at about 3 places and see if there is room. I put longer ones on mine.
  • Wiper blades can be expensive and they may have changed the size. You just need to be careful they don't hit each other when they sweep.

Costco sells Goodyear wiper blades for a fantastic price. I think about $8.00. The largest comes in 26" which should work well for you.
  • We have a 2005 Coachmen Aurora with the split windshield. It calls for 32" Wiper Blades. I have 28" on it now, just can't find any 32" in our regular haunts. It sure is nice having a full view through the windshield. The Coachmen has the wipers mounted from the top of the windshield and has no problems moving the 32's back and forth.

  • If you are not the original owner, they may have gone to a smaller blade that was available at the time.

My blades OEM were 32", but, not going to pay $40+ for wipers. I went to a more common 28" blade, easy to find.

I purchase the 28" locally wherever we are. If I happen to find a larger blade available at a reasonable "to Me" cost, I'd use it. I have replaced the wipers 2 times since 2006.
  • As long as the motor does not suffer. If they are too long, there could be less pressure on the windshield, especially on highway with a heavy rain?
  • I have a Fleetwood Bounder 39r and it uses 26 inch blades that seems to perfect.
  • It would seem to be a matter of measuring the 26" wiper at its arc closest to the edge of the frame to see how much room is left at the top and bottom. I increased the length of the wipers on my Cayman but it has a siingle piece windshield.
