- mikeleblanc413ExplorerIf the offer you make to the owner doesn't embarrass you, you offered him/her too much!
- RFCN2ExplorerAmerican Tradition coaches are a very high quality unit. Most cars will easily go 200,000 miles, most diesel motorhomes far beyond that. You can easily and for low cost get an idea of the motor condition by taking a small oil sample to Cat or Cummins.
- wolfe10ExplorerPerhaps turn the "equation" around...
What kind of quality coach can you buy for $15,000???
I would inspect it carefully, but would not automatically rule it out. - dons2346Explorer

Diesel's like to run.........
Really? I guess I don't understand that statement - Big_KatunaExplorer IINo. There are too many lower mile clean well kept units out there.
It's a buyers market. - Bionic_ManExplorerI think boats and RVs are better off being used. I think I would be more concerned about a unit that has sat around forever than something that was used and maintained.
- DSDP_DonExplorerIt would scare me away. This bit about diesels lasting forever is a little overrated and has always been repeated as fact, when it's really not. Yes, they'll run for a long time in a semi doing 100K a year because they run non stop, get serviced and aren't subject to 20 years of sitting around. That coach only averaged 10K a year.
The diesel engine may still be running fine, but brakes, shocks, airbags, bushings, hydraulics and all the other related parts won't do 200K. The interior has to be pretty worn by now too. - hersheyExplorerWe all agree that high mileage on a diesel is not something to worry about but...the external components of that diesel are not going to last that long at all.
Fuel pump at 80,000 miles.... 95 mile tow and $545.00 to repair
Fan and fan pillow block, belts, hoses and AC compressor destroyed by the fan coming apart at 82,000 miles......7 mile tow and $2920.00 to repair.
Internal engine is purring like a kitten. - carringbExplorerPowertrain is probably fine. Honestly running it a lot is probably better than letting it sit a lot.
I'd be more concerned about the condition of the coach. Is everything still secure? Does it squeak and rattle going down the road? Does it make groaning sounds when turning into driveways? Any signs of cracks or splitting in the exterior walls or roof, especially at joints? - HotwheelbillExplorer

Thank for your reply.
Yeah, I have had high milage cummins dodge trucks, but thinking of all the other parts of the coach. Asking 15k, but I like to walk up with cash in hand, so....
