Would You Purchase?

Looks in pretty good condition for a 20 year old coach. Really need to see in person. What sometimes peaks my questioning sense is a coach licensed in one state but for sale in another. In this case Ohio and Florida. Could be nothing and just a retiree who moved south and no long needs to drive to get away from the cold winters.

Three things to think about seriously.

1: As we age, we get up in the middle of the night more often. The person sleeping in the most forward position of that drop down bed will need to crawl over their mate or drop down the front side and crawl under the bed. That is just why we didn't buy a Trek.

2: Find out exactly what size that forward mounted diesel engine is and do some serious research. GM had a V8 diesel in that era that was not one of their best efforts.

3: If the coach is mounted on a Chevy P32 chassis, with independent front suspension, you may need to invest in upgrade components to make it drive acceptable. Or maybe that has already been done. Robert Henderson @ HENDERSON Line Up is the top expert on those old chassis.

10k? If it looks good, runs good, all items function properly, clean title, suits your style... I say go for it.
Definitely need to drive it and inspect it. Take an RV person with you.

Whatever that is between the windows on the drivers side scares the heck out of me.
If P30 chassis after having one they suck.

nice looking unit but the bed blocks front to rear when down. in this floor plan it shouldn't matter much. I looked at Treks years back and one I looked at had water on the floor of one of the compartments. IIRC the windshields are easy to replace since they were used in Greyhound Buses.

Safaris are great coaches and the Trek was the reason that Matt Perlot left Beaver. He wanted Beaver to build a weekender class A in the $80 price range and Beaver passed. So he left Beaver and started SMC. 97 was after SMC ditched the Isuzu front engine diesel. If this coach is really a diesel, then it's a GM 6.5 on a Chevy P30 chassis. Most of the Treks were P30/454. Great price for what appears to be a well maintained coach. Snap it up.

Just watch for scams - they are rampant on Craigslist and I'm already curious why he can't spell the name of his own motorhome.

Things like "I'm in the Military so I can't show it to you direct" "Delivered to you for your guaranteed inspection or your money back", blah blah, ...........

Looks great, only drawback looks like you have to climb over the doghouse. I don't see any door hinges. New tires, excellent. That would be my first worry on a 10 year old.
