XM antenna; where to mount?

Put antenna on roof with silicone caulk. Ran the wire to a marker light and down into the cab.

Placed mine on the sheet metal top of the roof ac and underneath the fiberglass housing. Ran the wire down thru the ac and across the ceiling to the side cabinet. Assuming you have speakers in cabinet, follow those wires back to the radio.

I must have a antenna with a short wire. because I just make it out of the hatch to the roof.

I just used the one that came with the XM radio. I had wire left over.

I placed mine under the forward vent cover over the loft. It sits overtop the screen and stays in place using a washer. The plastic cover does not interrupt the signal. On my Lazy Daze there is a privacy curtain about 8 inches aft of the vent. I backed out the screws holding the runner for the curtain and placed the antenna wire inside the runner between the roof and the runner to hide the wire. I chose to run in the direction of the drivers seat. Continuing along the side of the wall along the curtain to under under the bed mattress. Then using a seam in the interior carpet to the door frame molding. Around the door frame (inside) to the dash, to the receiver.
All the wire is inside. You only see the 8 or so inches that run to the vent from the curtains and because the vent is also a hatch the extra wire coiled up inside the vent so I can open the hatch. It is above the screen with the antenna.
Took about a half hour.

I have my antenna in the forward vent (aka roof access/escape hatch) under the plastic sitting on the screen on our Lazy Daze. I keep it in place with a washer that sticks to the magnet with the screen in between. It is very easy to hide most of the wire under the dash, in the door trim, bed frame, wall and trim for just about all the run. I left enough wire spooled in the vent so if I need to open the hatch the wire will not hold everything in place.

Fiberglass is tranparent to satellite radio. In my class A I put it behind the speakers above the driver's seat (the front cap was fiberglass) and never had a problem with reception. Putting it under a plastic roof vent should work.
