We took our 24 foot class c to Newfoundland and Labrador this year for 40+ days and due to the nature of that trip we felt it best to not take a toad. Actually, we really don't have one to take:B With the great distances on this trip we were going to just stop for the night when we were tired and tour along the way...a rolling hotel. It worked great for us.
Currently we are in the western USA and using the same unit, no toad. Hubby and I are in discussion as to whether we "need" one. I say no, He says maybe. I say we cannot afford to keep another car maintained, etc. We make due with this C and I am fine with that...Yes, we only get 10 - 12 mpg but it is also our hotel as we mostly boondock.
Could I use a toad if I had one...probably. Would I save money...not sure because of cost of vehicle, maintenance, registration, etc. I had better use it a lot of I got one. I would also tend to run out in it more and thus burn up more money.
Me, I look being footloose with no "attachments" to hook up.
