Interesting post by Dahkota concerning the size restriction on 42' coaches at some national parks. Not one else commented on that! Most folks on this and other forums have consistently stated that size restrictions are not an issue and in the rare case they are, can be easily worked around by finding a nearby private park.
Personally if a size restriction is going to restrict visiting some or perhaps several govt run parks I would opt for the smaller rig. Is a 42 that much more comfortable than a 40 - not withstanding the tag issue.
Re-read my post on size. I've said this many times but honestly, with our 40' we've never had issues on finding sites in national parks, national forests, state parks, COE, county or city parks. In 16 years of full-timing we used public parks or boondocked on national forest or BLM lands 90% of our time. We've been in Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Glacier, Zion, Bryce and others. Folks keep saying you can't stay in those parks with a 40' but we definitely have...over and over.
No, you will not fit in all just like a 30' will not fit in all of them but you will fit in many. With a 42' the selection goes way down. If you want to stay in public parks, 40' is my recommendation as tops.
