We have an electric power awning now. I don't like it as well as the old manual awning. It's too fragile for my liking. The old manual awning could be adjusted down and over the years it took a beating and never got hurt. This power awning needs to be rolled in to protect it from wind gust. We were RV-ing a couple of years ago and a guy put his power awning out and left. A gust of wind came by and flipped that awning over the top of his RV. I had my old manual awning out and it had no affect on it. The old school manual awnings are much tougher by design. I like to have the awning out in a storm because...it's an awning. When a storm comes with the power awning I feel like I have to roll it in because it's a chump, a punk.. When the day comes that it breaks I am going to find the parts from a manual awning and convert mine to manual. We were told when we bought our new RV not to use tie down straps with a power awning, that the tie downs would hurt the awning.
