Not having one of the sun blocker awnings, it brings up a question. Does the sun blocker stay on the roller tube when rolling up the awning? If not then go with sliding the strap to the opposite of the tube when installing the sun blocker.
If you roll the sun blocker up with the awning, I would work on some method to have the roll up strap in the center. I would not roll up the awning using the strap to far off center. I think that would cause the awning to roll up uneven.
