I remember that there were 2 or 3 brands, but unfortunately I don't all the names. I know there was a Swift meat company that had one and one I believe that was called Tuckers. My mother and grandmas used Crisco. They didn't use it for frying unless they were short on lard when cooking meats. The all did potatoes in the vegetable shortening and of course baking.
I suppose it did make sense to fry meats in lard?
