a few more days

I can't wait. Wednesday DW and I leave for our annual anniversary trip. We leave kids with G&G and we go off to camp on our own. Nothing wild or exciting just some us time. This year I am trying out some new cooking techniques and recipes.

Our state parks have great cooking grate fire rings. This year will be grilled wings in 4 different flavors, A carribean jerk sauce, a spicy dry rub, a teriyaki marinade, and an italian dressing marinade.
These will be accompanied by grilled stuffed peppers, smoke mushrooms, and grilled pineapple.
For dessert I have brought along some beautiful white peaches to grill as well.

My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

  • A good cheap way to get past the "grate" is to get a piece of expanded metal. Throw this on the grates and it won't effect anything, but will keep the food off the grates.
A metal fabrication shop or steel supply can probably supply one.
  • yep I always start with a nice hot fire, then brush, then oil

clean thoroughly! animals and dogs use as a fire hydrant. ;-)
  • we have the dessert wine covered. I just love the way wings come out on a nice smoky grill. I have never done the peaches before so I am excited to see how they turn out.
  • Yumm! But wait, no yellow cake and fresh whipped cream to go with the grilled peaches? Oh - and don't forget the dessert wine.

I love good food and out RV'ing.
  • yum yum, I do love wings.
do an internet search for "heroin wings" (because they're addictive). sadly, they require an oven, but lordy, they are goooooddd.
