About time to raise hogs-Price of Bacon

I've noticed a trend in that bacon seems to be getting cut thicker and thicker. Wondering if it is a marketing ploy to make us buy bacon more often.

A lot of the lemmings are too ________ to go the extra mile to the butcher and end up buying the junk in the wrapper.

Bacon > steak!
I'm not giving it up. :B

I've got 2 bellies ordered from a local supplier. As soon as I get them, I'll brine them for 8-10 days, then cold smoke for 20 hrs.

I love bacon...

We buy ours at the meat counter as well but it is already sliced. Much leaner than the pre-packaged and goes for about $3.99/lbs at our place, occasionally on sale for $2.99/lbs.

We don't buy bacon pre-packaged any more. We buy from a local grocery store (Mom and Pop's) that gets their meats locally. They have bulk bacon, and it's FAR less than pre-packaged AND much better! (Smoked or Sugar Cured). Neither one is drowning is salt like their counterpart pre-packaged big name cousins.

That works out to over $10.50/lb EEK!
And currently I can buy an untrimmed filet mignon for 8.00 bucks a pound.
Yeah. I know what we are having for Christmas dinner as part of the main courses and and it's not bacon....
